Shaker Maple Side Chair Converted to Rocking Chair, Canterbury, New Hampshire, c. 1840-60, black and brown cloth seat beneath newer blue and white tape, stamped "10" on both front posts, three slats, typical Canterbury finials, back legs show evidence of thong for tilters but chair has now been fitted with rockers, rockers apparently were moved as evidenced by the extra holes in each, (front seat rail was replaced when original broke, one back post split and glued),ht. 40 5/8, wd. 18 1/4, seat dp. 14 in.
