The certificate from the Wildenstein Institute (Comité Vlaminck) accompanies the lot and suggests the title "La Route."
A May 3, 2016, email from Julien Roussard, director of the Centre d'Études sur les Peintres à Montmartre, stated that this watercolor was reproduced as a lithograph by Valminck in 1957/58 at Mourlot Studio. The lithograph is published in the book Vlaminck by Pierre MacOrlan. The lithograph measures 31 x 47 cm and is referenced in the Catalogue raisonné Walterskirchen as number 273.
