Provenance: Old tag from E.F. Eble, Art Collection, 284 Fourth Ave, New York, New York; written on the back: "Sioux, pouch and pipe, the property formerly of Rain in the Face- the foe of Custer." "Rain in the Face" was known to have visited New York in early 1890s. E.F. Eble died in 1894.
