Keeler, Julius Melathene (1825-1890) Archive of Family Photographs and Letters. Including a cabinet photograph of Keeler; another of what may be a mining site, and a hieroglyphic rock; a hand-colored photo of his daughter, Jessie Keeler; and dozens of letters by Keeler family members; housed in a three-ring binder.
Keeler, who founded the California town that bears his name, was caught up in the Gold Rush of 1849; he was involved in marble quarrying in Inyo County, and other pursuits; his daughter Jessie Maud Keeler (1864-1950) married Chester Whitin Lassell (1861-1932); Hildegarde Lasell Watson was their daughter.
