Description:

"Simon Willard" Patent Alarm Timepiece or "Lighthouse Clock," Massachusetts, c. 1920-40, bench-made mahogany case with cylindrical midsection, octagonal base with rear friction-fit door and ormolu mount, and cast brass ball feet, porcelain Roman numeral dial inscribed Simon Willard, blued-steel moon hands, and engraved bezel, eight-day brass movement with passing strike on a turned bell with acanthus leaf ball finial, brass-faced pendulum suspended by a "T-bridge" powered by an iron weight, and all under a glass dome with ball finial, ht. 29 in.
Estimate $10,000-12,000

This is a finely made clock with close attention to the details of period examples. It's construction, including the movement, is nearly identical to period examples of the same form. Presently, an iron ogee weight is with the clock and it needs a proper lead weight, otherwise, no condition issues.
