F.W. Clerke Astronomical Regulator, London, c. 1880, oak round-top case with glazed door and carved oak leaf and acorn fret below masking the 12-in. silvered brass dial engraved F.W. Clerke, 27 Lombard Street, London, outer Arabic minutes, seconds dial in the upper quadrant and Roman numeral hours below, all with blued steel hands, eight-day heavy plate movement with deadbeat escapement, jeweled pallet faces, maintaining power, six-spoke brass pulley, mercury, temperature-compensated pendulum with regulating scale, silvered beat scale mounted inside the case, and a brass-cased cylindrical weight, ht. 72 in.
