Melas Rug, Southwest Anatolia, c. 1850, the field comprised of alternating red and ivory vertical bands inset with a highly stylized meandering vine and serrated leaf design, flanked by narrower bands inset with zoomorphic palmettes, all within a double flowerhead in tile-patterned border, 5 ft. 3 in. x 3 ft. 10 in.
