Description:

Two-sided "W. JONES" Tavern Sign, America, early 19th century, the black-painted background with yellow, brown, and green-painted sheaf of wheat, barrel and farm implements above gilt name "W. JONES," the edges of the sign with applied deep concave and bead profile molding, and screw and rosehead nail applied wrought iron hanging straps on the sides, old surface, (imperfections),ht. 52 1/4, wd. 29 3/4, dp. 3 1/2 in.

Paint moderately faded, one side weathered, molding has cracks and minor losses, sign board has shrinkage cracks and early wrought iron bar reinforcement secured with rosehead and square cut nails.
