Description:

Napoleon III Sevres-style Porcelain- and Bronze-mounted Center Table, France, last quarter 19th century, the circular top inset with a central porcelain plaque painted with a portrait of Louis XVI, the border with eighteen small oval porcelain plaques, including the royal coat of arms, and portrait plaques of Marie Antoinette, the Dauphin, and various other court beauties, all inset into the bronze-mounted top decorated throughout with foliate arabesques; raised on onyx pedestal base with pendant swags hung between three bronze putti, ht. approx. 33, dia. 42 1/4 in.

Base with numerous restorations, including repaired breaks to later wood platform and repaired breaks to onyx. Onyx also with areas of chipped loss particularly along edges and joints with other elements. Putti with various nicks, abrasions and surface inconsistencies. Lacking one caster. The porcelain mounted top with visible joints, some minor dents rubbing around joints. Scattered spots of corrosion and minor nicks and abrasions to outer edge. Porcelain with crazing, some minor losses to paint and gilding, central panel with several very minor abrasions to surface.
