George III Sterling Silver Monteith, London, 1786-87, partial mark for Richard Carter, Daniel Smith & Robert Sharp, makers, oval, the rim with flowerheads to Vitruvian scrolls, over gadrooned lip and stop-fluted body, with two fluted handles adorned with bay leaves, on conforming foot with gadrooned border, engraved with armorial and motto "Nil Admirari," lg. handle over handle 15 in., approx. 93.8 troy oz.

N.B. The armorial may be for John FitzGibbon, who became the 1st Earl of Clare in 1795.
Estimate $2,000-3,000

Nicks and pitting into interior base (not visible from outside). Monogram removal to one side (opposite present armorial). Otherwise in good overall condition. Rim is not removable.
