Salt-glazed and Cobalt-decorated Six-gallon Stoneware Storage Jar, J. Bennace and J.A. Sutherland, Springfield Portage County, Ohio, mid-19th century, the ovoid form with applied lug handles, with impressed "6" and maker's name highlighted with brushed cobalt, further bruashed with the letters "J" and "C," and floral sprig below, and tulip on the reverse, (chips to rim, stable crackling under glaze), ht. 17 1/2, dia. approx. 14 in.
