On both chairs the paint is thick and may obscure some restoration not mentioned here: Chair #1 has one warped stile, and at least one of the corner blocks is patched. There are old tack holes around the seat area, indicating that it may have been overupholstered once. The balusters have a reddish-brown underpaint and look less substantial than the balusters on chair #2. Chair #2: One rear leg pieced from above the seat, the other back leg pieced just below the rear stretcher. Repairs at seat rail all around, including patching to corner blocks similar to the patch on Chair #1. Chair #2 was likely also once overupholstered.
