Continental School, 17th/18th Century

View of a Walled Town.
Unsigned, with a collector's stamp l.r., initialed "TB" and numbered "559" on the reverse.
Ink and wash on laid paper watermarked with fleur-de-lis above the initials "GDF," sheet size 6 1/4 x 10 in. (15.9 x 25.4 cm),framed.
Condition: Paper is fragile with several very thin areas, toning, handling creases, nicks and wear to edges.
Estimate $300-500

It is suggested that the origin of this drawing may be Dutch or French School.

The collector's stamp at the lower right is sometimes attributed to Chares-Henri Marcellis (Belgian, 1798-1864). See Lugt: http://www.marquesdecollections.fr/detail.cfm/marque/6295/total/1.
