Description:

Five Pieces of Colorless Glassware, mostly America, 19th century, used but not made by the Shakers, consisting of blown and blown-molded items including a wine, other drinking vessels, and a canister with applied rings, accompanied by a note in Faith Andrews' hand, ht. to 8 1/2 in.

Faith Andrews's letter reads in part "These glass containers came into our collection early in the 1930s from the Hancock Shakers - the Church and East Families. While the Shaker [sic] never developed a glass industry they bought their herb and pharmaceutical containers from the world..."
