Gothic Revival Carved Rosewood and Rosewood Veneer Extension Dining Table, probably Boston, c. 1845, the extending top on conforming skirt with beaded edge, on quatrefoil support and scroll-form legs terminating in carved fans, on turned feet, refinished (imperfections),ht. 29 3/4, wd. 53 1/2, lg. 43 to 111 1/2 in.
Note: Extension mechanism attributed to Cornelius Briggs, Roxbury, Massachusetts, who obtained a patent for same in 1843.
