Condition: Lined, scattered retouch (primarily to the sky),surface grime.

Provenance: Private collection, Rochester, New York, for four generations.

J-shaped line of craquelure located on center left side, 6 1/2 inches in from the left edge, measuring 5 1/2 inches high, curved up and to the left at the bottom, leading to a minor paint loss measuring 1/8 in. There are areas of lifting to the paint surface along the line of craquelure. Retouch to the sky, as follows: largest area located just above the mountain on the far right, 7 inches in from the right edge, measuring 2 x 4 inches overall and following the edge of the mountain top; an oval area of retouch measuring 2 x 1 inches located in the center of the sky 4 1/2 inches down from the top of the canvas; small dots of retouch, about two dozen in all, scattered throughout the sky.
