Silk Brocade Obi, Japan, Meiji Period (1868-1912),depicting the paulownia crest of the Tokugawa clan in various floral designs in yellow, purple, ivory, green, and brown surrounding a hut, with gold metallic threads, 162 x 12 7/8 in.

Provenance: From the estate of Richard Young, Van Hornesville, New York. This collection originally belonged to his stepmother, Louise Powis Brown Young, who amassed the textiles during the first quarter of the 20th century.
