Provenance: From the estate of ex-Broadway showgirl Sonia Greenova (1900-1993),New York City. Ms. Greenova was once with the Moscow Grand Opera Company, an actress and singer on Broadway in the 1920s, and common-law wife of New York lawyer and realtor Edgar S. Appleby (1862-1935). Upon her death, Ms. Greenova's estate passed to her nephew's widow, who resided in Delaware County, New York.

Age crack to flag, scattered gilt and paint losses, loss of five of the stars, some cracks to wood/joinery on feet area, well done 10 1/2 x 2 1/2 in. area on lower left- facing wing has been replaced, color matches well; wood putty filler on back where portion of wing has been re-nailed, flag cracked across and re-glued joinery has been stabilized in a few places on the back with metal devices.
