14kt Gold and Enamel Pendant, John Paul Miller, c. 1950s, the abstract form with a granulated octopus motif, hidden red and green enamel accents under the body, suspended from a woven black cord, completed by a clasp with granulated starfish motifs, lg. 2 1/2, 17 in., maker's mark, (losses).

Note: John Paul Miller, one of the leading goldsmiths in the United States, only creates commissioned work. A pioneer of the use of granulation, Miller taught himself the technique through trial and error beginning in the 1940s.
Estimate $3,000-5,000

Overall good condition, some fraying to cord, minor bead loss to top of center pendant and caps on cord, discoloration to pendant and caps.
