Lapis Lazuli Vase and Cover, China, the ovoid body with slightly tapering sides, supported on a pedestal foot, finely carved in relief with bands of stylized taotie masks and mythical animals, the neck encircled by six elephant head lugs suspending loose rings, alternating with raised vertical rectangular panels incised and gilded with Qianlong six-character marks, the domed lid with a band of kui dragons and surmounted by a double lotus finial, ht. 12 1/2 in.
