18kt Gold Massey Lever Watch by Litherland, Davies & Company, Liverpool, serial #9,898, circa 1820, tapered balance cock engraved with flowers and Patent on the table, serpentine foot inscribed Lever Detached, three wheel train with round steel balance, the fusee with maintaining power, white enameled dial with black Roman chapters and gilt spade hands, case stamped TH&JH (Thomas & John Helsby) and bearing the Chester hallmark for 1822, overall dia. 52 mm.
