Description:

Folding Memorandum Book, probably England, early 19th century, the small book containing six ivory leaves fanning out from the front and back, each inscribed with the days of the week Monday through Saturday, with silver latch and shield-shaped plaque, 1 1/4 x 2 1/2 in.

Note: Similar memorandum books were known to be used by 18th and 19th century figures such as Thomas Jefferson and Jane Austen, who penciled temporary notes into the small pages before transferring them into more permanent books.
Estimate $1,500-2,500
