Bow-back Windsor Settee and Three Bow-back Windsor Chairs, James Always and Joseph Hampton, New York City, 1795-96 the bowed crest rail on thirty-one spindles and arms with shaped handholds on vase and ring-turned supports and shaped seat resting on eight vase and ring-turned legs joined by turned stretchers, remnants of green paint, branded "J ALWA HMO" under the seat, ht. 37, wd. 83, dp. 22 in.; sold together with three bow-back Windsor chairs, one of which bears the same brand as the bench; each chair with eight spindles, shaped saddle seats and splayed vase and ring-turned legs joined by stretchers.
