Pickering, Timothy (1745-1829), Autograph letter signed, February 7th, 1798, one page, as Secretary of State, to Rufus King, Minister Plenipotentiary in England, enclosing a copy of a letter from Samuel Chase (present) concerning the stock of the state of Maryland being held in the Bank of England, and vigorously claiming their rights to the entire stock, (slight smudging to letter, Chase document excellent).
