Pepys, Samuel (1633-1703), Manuscript document signed, dated February 4th, 1673, one page, to the Principal Officers and Command of the Navy, by order of King Charles II, appointing James Patience (?) to be master carpenter and bestowing wages, framed with both portraits, 9 1/4 by 7 1/4 in., (reinforced edges to reverse and taped to mount along one side, loss to left edge, not affecting text, age typical minor defects).
