Gallery Receptionist, Boston, MA

Primarily responsible for answering all incoming telephone calls and greeting & assisting clients in the Boston gallery lobby. Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly space in the lobby including front desk, closet & preview rooms, managing emails to “contact us” email box, tracking client attendance numbers for previews, auctions & events and staffing lobby desk during regular business hours as well as during auction previews, special events, and auctions.

Other duties include processing catalog sales originating in Boston and submitting weekly catalog sales reports, dispositioning picked-up property in auction database, and special projects as directed. This position is responsible for closing up the gallery on a daily basis including accommodating occasional later hours for specialists on sale weeks as requested. Weekend and Evening hours involved.

Marketing & Communications Specialist, Marlborough, MA

Description:
Skinner is seeking a talented, versatile Marketing & Communications specialist to join the fast-paced auction environment. Duties include implementation of digital marketing programs; website content, digital image processing, email, and social media with a goal of producing and maintaining a high-quality user experience across digital platforms. This position requires a creative thinker who embraces new technologies and who is able to collaborate effectively across the organization, to implement content strategies, generate support and share outcomes while adhering to a marketing content calendar

Qualifications:
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree and one year’s full-time experience in marketing, public relations or related field preferred.
• Strong working knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite and familiarity with graphic design principles.
• Strong creative, strategic, and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with WordPress, HTML, CSS preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with social media platforms.
• Team player, a good collaborator, and a self-starter.

Auction Assistant, Marlborough, MA

New England’s leading auction house seeks responsible, team-oriented, and driven Auction Assistants to work at the Marlborough Gallery. Weekday shifts with evening and weekend work required. The flexibility of schedule is a must.

 20th Century Design Specialist, Marlborough, MA

Skinner, New England’s leading auction house for antiques & fine art, seeks a Specialist with a concentration in Modernism (1895-present) including decorative arts and furniture for the 20th Century Design department.

Responsibilities:

• Provide pre-auction support, including appraisals, inventory preparation, cataloging, and photography assistance as required
• Liaise with Skinner appraisal services, marketing, and inventory departments
• Receive inquiries for auction appraisals and take in consignment material under supervision of the department head
• Provide department head with administrative and logistical support as needed
• Perform auction and departmental duties as assigned
• Liaise into the Skinner auction schedule to provide assistance with sale registration, internet bidding and phone bidding

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should possess 2-5 years experience in appraising and cataloging decorative arts and furniture in an auction house, gallery, museum or related field. Computer proficiency, including Word and database programs. Attention to detail, aesthetic sense, can-do attitude, ability to juggle multiple tasks, adhere to strict deadlines and work collaboratively as a team member a must. Knowledge of auction house software and systems a plus.

Skinner, New England’s leading auction house for antiques & fine art, seeks a Specialist for the Asian Works of Art department. We are in need of a Specialist to assist in providing curatorial, business development, auction, and administrative support for the Asian Art Department. We are seeking a personable, detail-oriented individual who has the knowledge and skills to further the growth of this important area.

Responsibilities:

• Provide pre-auction support, including appraisals, inventory preparation, cataloging, and photography assistance as required
• Develop and execute plans for new business in conjunction with department team
• Liaise with Skinner marketing communications and public relations
• Coordinate with Skinner inventory and production departments
• Receive inquiries for auction, consignment and appraisals services
• Provide department team with administrative and logistical support
• Liaise into the full Skinner auction schedule

Qualifications:

The successful candidate should possess a minimum of 3–5 years experience in appraising Asian antiques in an auction house, gallery, museum or related field. Computer proficiency, attention to detail, aesthetic sense, can-do attitude, ability to juggle multiple tasks and adhere to strict deadlines, and work collaboratively as a team member a must. Knowledge of auction house software and systems a plus. Knowledge of the Mandarin language preferred.
