Consignment Services Assistant, Marlborough, MA

Skinner, New England’s leading auction house for antiques & fine art, is looking for assistants to work in the Consignment Services Department.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accurate Data Entry of Consignment Receipts
  • Answer Customer Phone and E-mail Requests
  • Assist With Inventory Reconciliation
  • E-mail Pre and Post Sale Notifications
  • Assist with Management of Marlborough Left Bid Department
  • Assist with Phone Reception Coverage
  • Liaise into Auction Schedule as needed

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Phone Reception Coverage

Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service skills both over the phone, via email and in person
  • Ability to multitask and to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Computer proficiency, attention to detail, aesthetic sense, can-do attitude
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and adhere to strict deadlines
  • Work collaboratively as a team member a must

Warehouse Assistant, Marlborough, MA

Skinner, New England’s leading auction house for antiques & fine art, is looking for assistants to work with the Warehouse Manager.
Part-time and full-time positions available. 

Responsibilities:

  • Pack, unpack and bin property
  • Assist with photo shoots and set up of previews for auctions
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Must be able to lift and move a minimum of 80 lbs.
  • Do inventories and update database
  • Work with Transportation Dept. on the road as needed

Qualifications:

  • Flexibility for performing different tasks
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • No experience required but previous warehouse work a plus
  • Occasional nights and weekends required
  • No fork lifts or heavy equipment used
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Salary commensurate with experience.

New England’s leading auction house seeks responsible, team-oriented, and driven Auction Assistants to work at the Marlborough Gallery. Weekday shifts with evening and weekend work occasionally required. Flexibility of schedule is a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and style gallery for auctions
  • Assist clients during auction previews
  • Participate in fundamental tasks during auctions

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to lift 35 to 40 lbs and climb a ladder
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Transportation Assistant, Marlborough, MA

Skinner Marlborough is seeking an energetic individual to work in the Transportation Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Pick up and pack Property from our customers’ homes, storage facilities, museums, etc.
  • Locate property in our warehouse for inventory, pack and load property onto trucks for delivery to our Boston Gallery.
  • Provide excellent customer service in a professional manner and problem solve in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate should have 1-2 years of related experience, but we will train the right person.
  • Physical strength and stamina required as there is very heavy lifting involved.
  • Willingness to endure long days when necessary in order to get the job at hand finished.
  • Some night and weekend work and must be able to travel overnight as necessary.
  • Must be available to work auctions as requested.

Asian Art Director, Marlborough, MA

Skinner, New England’s leading auction house for antiques & fine art, seeks a Director for the Asian Works of Art department. We are in need of a Director to provide curatorial, business development, auction, and administrative support for the Asian Art Department. We are seeking a personable, detail-oriented individual who has the knowledge and skills to further the growth of this important area.

Responsibilities:

• Direct a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Develop and execute plans for new business in conjunction with department team
• Oversee the departmental marketing communications and public relations; liaise with Skinner corporate marketing
• Appraise, research and catalog items for auction
• Receive inquiries for auction, consignment and appraisals services
• Provide department team with administrative and logistical support
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; end user proficiency with online and social media platforms such as WordPress, Facebook, and Twitter
• Liaise into the full Skinner auction schedule

Qualifications:

The successful candidate should possess a minimum of 5–7 years experience in appraising Asian antiques in an auction house, gallery, museum or related field. Computer proficiency, attention to detail, aesthetic sense, can-do attitude, ability to juggle multiple tasks and adhere to strict deadlines, and work collaboratively as a team member a must. Knowledge of auction house software and systems a plus. Knowledge of the Mandarin language preferred.
